By Qian Jing
“No. 4 bids RMB1,200. Any more bid?” After three calls with no more bid, the photography “Evening Glow” was finally purchased at the drop of the hammer, which created the highest transaction price for a single work in the auction. That was a scene in the “Love in Heart” Photography Charity Auction held in Shanghai Luxun Middle School. This auction is a continuity of “Road of Life” Student’s PhotographyTour Exhibition held by Shanghai Luxun School Alliance and 15 excellent works in the Exhibition have appeared as lots. The raised funds will be used to help the students in poverty in Qinghai.
It was noticed at site that the works for the auction are of different materials and perspectives. Some of them are depicting life and some are discovering a view in nature. These little photographers have devoted all their zeal into the photo and each work has reflected their positive spirit.
Apart from carrying forward charity spirit, the auction also serves as a vivid vocational education class demonstrating the school-running idea of “multiple sharing, cultivating people by culture” of Luxun School Alliance. The auction process was dominated by the students of three schools in the Alliance and they’ve acted as auctioneer, VMD designers and stage controller. At the official starting of the auction, the 15 trained little auctioneers have got on stage to demonstrate and introduce the lots one by one. At site, students and parents have put up their boards. After bidding and hammering, 15 works have come to their new owners and the charity fund of RMB19,100. Luxun School Alliance will donate all the funds to Golog High School in Qinghai.

By Gu Li
The new semester has come, students of Chengzhong Senior High School has not changed into their school uniforms and devoted themselves into ntensive study, but put on cheongsam, long gown and Chinese tunic suit to “transcend” to the revolutionary times and present the original historical stage play “Before Dawn” in the 1st class of a new term. “Before Dawn” is a major play of “Rainbow Plan” Humanity Project High School Students Play Experiencing Program of Hongkou and also the report performance of Chengzhong Senior High School for its “Drama Winter Camp” activity.
“Before Dawn” is adapted from a real incident happed at Tanggu Road and vividly represents the historical figures of Zhou Enlai, Soong Ching-ling and Mao Dun and their revolutionary stories. This play is of rapid pace and its plot is full of ups and downs, making it very attractive. It was noticed at site that many audience have laughed at the beginning of the play but sighs were heard when the spy pointed the gun to a Communist Party member and nervousness was permeated in the air. Many audiences have spoken highly of this play, praising that the players were so good in acting that they have maked the twist plots more exciting.
It’s worth mentioning that these “skillful” high school students had no performing experience at all before this play. To make their performance vivid, they have made greater efforts and rehearsed many times in the winter vocation. To represent the old times more precisely and to add more connotation to their performance, they visited Siming Gongsuo and the former site of the Party’s Secret Radio Station at Tanggu Road to feel the real situation where these revolutionary events took place and have look up relevant historical materials to figure out the psychology of the role they act. “Many students are not familiar with stage play and even felt awkward to perform in it. But we finally manage to perform with proficiency after learning and practicing.” said Du Yuchen who acts Zhou Enlai in the play.
Vice Dean Xu Xuejun said that presenting play in the 1st class of a new semester not only offers a new stage for student’s growth, but also allows students to experience the pleasure of growth and success in abundant activities. This is not the first time that drama comes into classroom. In recent years, several students have taken part in the rehearsal and performance of dramas related to Chengzhong, including “Orient Boat”, “Innocent Heart” and “Before Dawn”. Next, Chengzhong will actively promote the dramas in schools activity, further excavate the school’s history, and allow its students to present its stories through writing and rehearsing “Biography of Ye Chengzhong”, thus encouraging them to remember the school motto and consciously practice the socialist core values.
